My latest work was recently on display at the Fire Island Bake Shop in Anchorage. I began this work after an early summer trip to McCarthy and Kennecott. I was inspired by the landscape of the Wrangell Mountains, the Copper River Delta, and the Kennecott and Root Glaciers, and by the geology and history of the area.
These small pieces are encaustic monoprints, which I create using pigmented beeswax to paint a composition on a heated aluminum plate. I then press a sheet of paper on the printing plate. The finished prints are adhered to cradled panels. These prints are all small; they vary in size from 6×6″ to 10×10″.
